Oh No, not HOUSEWORK!!

Aimee at The Mother Load tagged me for this Homemaking meme. She tells me that the Blogging Gods will shoot me down with horrendous lightening if I don't fulfill my taggedness.

The A-B-C's of Homemaking - The Estrogen Files way...

Aprons- Y/N? - Yes, most of the time. It's old and ugly but it works. Same one I used when I was a sous chef! (Don't tell THEM!)

Baking- Brownies! YUM - I'm making some TODAY!!

Clothesline- Y/N? Yup, you can count on it! We live in the high desert but it still gets HOT and the line keeps my house cooler, saves me money on electricity and bleach, AND makes our stuff smell so sweeeeeetttttt!

Donuts- Ever made them? - No, never. I buy them. Don't they just grow there? Someone MAKES them?

Everyday- One homemaking thing you do everyday? - Read my email? Check my Blog? Nah, just kidding. I keep a spotless kitchen, clear counters, etc.

Freezer- Do you have a separate deep freezer? - I WISH! Someday we will have a garage and in that garage will be space for both cars, some tools, a small work bench, and a deep freeze.

Garbage Disposal- Y/N? - Nope. I'm deprived, you know.

Handbook- Y/N? - For housework? Not really. I have a schedule that I loosely keep and I found it at MotivatedMom Yahoo! Group.

Ironing- Love it or hate it? - It's sick, I know, but I like to iron. Something about making order in the wrinkled fabric just makes me so happy. I feel like a good homemaker.

Junk Drawer- Where is it? - Don't have one, not enough drawer space. Now cabinets, I have TONS of those (whoever designed this house MUST have not ever cooked) and one is devoted to lots of stuff that doesn't live anywhere else.

Kitchen- Design and decorating? - Galley style, long and opens to breakfast nook and back door on one side, dining room on the other. Lots of kids pictures around, pictures of family and friends tacked up on the sides of the cabinets next to the sink window, lots of plants.

Love- What is your favorite part of homemaking? - Ummm... Being able to stay in my glasses and PJs until I want to change. Yes, even through the carpool duties. Isn't that how it's done? With bunny slippers? (Gotta get me some...)

Mop- Y/N? - Only if I have to. I hate mopping. It's almost worse than going to the dentist since it's old lino and hard to get as pretty as I like, not to mention the original color was GREY and how can you tell where the dirt is that way?! Most of our flooring is carpet with only 3 areas of lino - one bathroom, one entryway, one kitchen.

Nylons- Wash by hand or in the washer? - I wear them on Sundays (sometimes) and they get a couple of weeks of wear before I wash them by hand. What is the shower rail for, if not tossing clean nylons over to dry?

Oven- Do you use the window or open it to check? - I don't have a window in my oven. Or a light. I wish I did. I bake more now by the way the food smells as it's cooking and a peek in when it smells done.

Pizza- What do you put on yours? - Just about anything. I'm not really into dead fish and hot peppers, but anything else is a go.

Quiet- What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment? - Good heavens, I have FOUR kids! There is NO quiet time. Ever.

Recipe card box- Y/N? - Yes and no. I have one that I use to hold paper recipes. I have a recipe program/file on my computer that I use. I also have a 4" binder labeled "Mom's Yummy Recipes" that I have printed off (some mine, some from others).

Style of house - One story ranch, manufactured home.

Tablecloths and napkins- Y/N? - No tablecloths, although after reading Rocks In My Dryer's post about cloth napkins, I made some and the kids ADORE them.

Under the kitchen sink - Organized. No cleaners there, just garbage bags, garbage can, dishwasher soap, and colanders/bowls that don't fit elsewhere.

Vacuum- How many times a week? - This is a chore for L and she does it several times a week.

Wash- How many loads do you do a week? - Good heavens, I don't know. There's 6 of us here. Our electricity is measured on peak/off peak, so since off peak is cheaper and after 10pm and weekends are off peak and practically free, I do our laundry on weekends. Unless it's an emergency.

X's- Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off? - Kind of. I made chore lists for the kids recently and am trying to set an example for them. I also seem to have inherited a lot of responsibilities from church and school lately, so I am trying to be better organized.

Yard- Who does what? - Oh please, you think I can get Hubbers the engineer out of his cave office long enough to do any lawn work? I do it. Yes, all of it. Sucks.

ZZZ's- What is your last homemaking task for the day? - Start the dishwasher - off peak, you know...

So there ya go, Aimee. The Bloggy Gods still like me. For now. I tag Maria, Barb, and Stephanie - as well as anyone else who wishes to participate and will link back to me (linkme-linkme-linkme).
