Busy Little Bees...
My oldest daughter is studying Idaho history in 4th grade this year and they've gotten to the Native American (hereafter called Indian) tribes and a group presentation assignment.
L got assigned the Shoshone-Bannock tribe, often referred to as Sho-Ban. This is cool because the Sho-Ban reservation is only about an hour drive south of here and we pass it on trips to and fro quite often - AND we know several people whom are part of the Sho-Ban tribe.
Her part of the group report is the traditional clothing (ie: before settlers). I learned a LOT about the traditional dress methods, as I helped L do research on the internet.
In addition to making a wonderful posterboard display of photographs of traditional dress, she also asked me to make her a traditional woman's costume. It has turned out so impressive (!!) that I will post a photo of it here when finished. I still have the leggings to make.
We also made her a yarn wig of dark black hair with one small braid. She loves it and wishes she could ALWAYS wear it! Now, that's customer satisfaction...
